NWR: Leaving for Florida in the AM..I hate flying..

I'm petrified of flying.. how soon should I take the Valium the doc presecribed? she said take half as needed but I feel like just taking a whole one..our flight is at 6:30 am & I'm prob not going to sleep tonight but I don't wanna be all 'cracked out when we get there' any advice?? TIA!

I suggest Benadryl. It's not as strong as valium but will still 'get the job done' . Take it while you are waiting to board the plane and by the time you sit down it will begin to hit you. You may be tired for a little while after when you get to FL but not as bad as if you took something stronger. HTH!

thanks for the reccomendation but I feel like I need something stronger,..I took a muscle relaxer the last time & it did nothing I pnaiced & cried like a baby alot of the time & I don't want to have to go through that again :*(

Whats the dosage???

I got I think 5mg of Valium....

I took one the night before the flight.... then I took one on the way to the airport (like 2-3 hrs before flight).... then I took another before boarding the plane and was FINE.... no I wasnt high or acting any differently as I normally do.... I only felt a little sleepy and slept only on the plane for about an hour.

Edit to add:

I am sooooo scared of flying that the last time when I didnt have Valium, I was hysterically crying 3 hours before even going to the airport!!!!! Thats how bad I was!

have you tried hypnotheraphy? my aunt was afraid of flying that she starts vomiting the minute she steps into the airport (yeah, that bad!). she tried benadryl, valium and other holistic ways and found that the hypnotheraphy session did the trick.

just my 2 cents worth....

So Sorry. This is probably too late, but my mom took a Zanax before her most recent flight and that didn't even work.

i know how u feel hun! i am so scared of flying... i will def be taking valium before i fly for my honeymoon. i will prob need to take xanax a few days before the flight also just so i can sleep.. let us know how it went!!!
