NWR: Levitz warning *updated*
Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but I just wanted to let people know about this in case you were looking into Levitz for furniture.
back in July I purchased a dining room set from a Levitz clearance center. They had to hire special delivery personel to deliver this set, because the glass was from Italy. The day of delivery, I get a phone call saying someone had broken one of the glass doors on the China Cabinet, and a replacement was being ordered and would be delivered in a week.
I called back the next week, to find out where the glass was. The person I spoke to said she would call the company and find out then call me back. No calls back. Called back the next week and several times through August and September, each time being told that the glass door was being ordered and that someone would call me back to arrange delivery.
October, still no glass door. I call AGAIN. The person I had been speaking too no longer works there, they transfer me to someone else. I speak to him, he says he will look into it and call me back. I call back the next day, he is in a meeting, leave a message to call me back. he never does. I call again on November 1st, the guy is in a meeting, but left a note to tell me the glass door had been ordered and someone would call me about delivery.
I called again yesterday to find out what the heck is going on. The guy I was speaking to has (shock) been transfered to another department. The glass door was NEVER ordered, and they have no notes of ANY of my 20 or so phone calls. they tell me I have to contact the manufacturer directly, because they had nothing to do with it. (both store and corporate level told me this)
Speak to the manufacturer today, I was told I have to speak to Levitz, otherwise since the unit was delivered in July and no one placed an order with them I would have to pay for the glass door myself. I called back Levitz. They tried to tell me that I bought the unit 'as-is' so I had to pay for the door because it wasnt there to begin with, I then explain to them Yes, the door was there when I bought it, it was there the next day when i came in to arrange delivery and pay for the delivery service, and that it was broken by the delivery people. They then told me that since it was clearance that was handled by the store, and CORPORATE had no say in it. (I was like... huh? how is that possible). So I call the store AGAIN, find out that the person I spoke to yesterday may have misrepresented her position when she was being rude to me, and to come in to speak with a manager.
Now, is it just me, or is this REALLY messed up? I have been waiting for this since JULY and they havent done ANYTHING about it.

went there to speak to the manager last night. He was suprised that very few notes had been taken and that the part wasnt ordered back in July. He took down all the information (something no one else had done before) and said he would give it to his other manager who used to be the district manager for clearance for the entire east coast, and they would try to get the door in.
