Im completing my bachelors (thank god some of my Associate's credits carried over) and then getting my Masters in Library Science.
I would like to be a children's librarian or work in the schools.
please if any one is involved with this let me know. I want to make sure that Im not making a mistake of going back to school and working part time.
Thanks.

Re: NWR: Librarians
MY friend just finished her masters in it and is looking for a job now. If you have any questions I can ask her or I might know because she has told me before.

Re: NWR: Librarians
Hi, I just graduated with my Master's in Library Science, and have my NY School Certification in School Library Media from CW Post. I was in marketing and hated my job, always loved libraries and took a leap of faith. I really do love it. It's not going to be glamorous, or very lucrative, but it is a great career choice if you are considering raising a family and if you enjoy working with people and children. Also, a love of literature doesn't hurt. I have to say, it's a competitive job market, especially in schools, but some people claim the baby boomers will be retiring...so who knows. There are many part-time opportunities while you are in school and many different routes you can take with an MLS. Good luck and FM me with questions!

My FSIL is also a Librarian at Emma Clark Library in Setauket. She has her masters in advertising and Library Science...she LOVES her job...She only works part time because she has 2 kiddies...but she makes great money.
If you have any questions...I'm sure she wouldn't mind answering them.
