I am moving to Islip on Saturday so I am trying to figure out my daily commute.
The Babylon and Deer Park stations are the best for me (based on time) and both are btwn 10-15 min drives.
What I would like to know is how difficult is it to park at these stations and is there a parking fee?
TIA

not sure about the parking fees, but you might get more lucky with express trains in Babylon! It makes a huge difference in the train time!

Thanks for the info girls! Surprisingly enough I have a better chance catching an express train at Deer Park (but Babylon would be better in case I miss a train) I am so confused right now...lol
Anyone know anything about parking at the Deer Park station? Thanks again

Babylon definitely has parking fees. I don't know what they are, but maybe not so bad. My huntington parking pass is only $30 a year. I don't believe Deer Park has a fee and there are a lot of parking spots. If I had to pick btwn the two though, I would probably park at Babylon. I come home late a lot of nights b/c of my job and think the DP station can get a little sketchy later on. Babylon is very well lit and seems like there is always people around. I used to live in DP, but mostly took Wyandanch (got dropped off) b/c it was closer, but when I had a late night I almost always came back through Babylon.

I live in Manhattan, so obvs I don't commute, but my parents live in Smithtown, so I take the train to Deer Park when I visit. They pick me up, so I don't have to worry about parking, but I can tell you that the parking lot is HUGE! There are lots and lots of spots. I am not sure how quickly they fill up though. There are usually a lot of train times to Deer Park too. I never have a problem, and usually Deer Park is only the 4th or 5th stop on the train. It takes about an hour. HTH a little......

Thanks for the info...Deer Park has a better schedule for me so I would actually prefer to use this station

Re: NWR - LIRR
deer park is free and has TONS of spaces. Babylon is $3 a day or .25 for every 2 hrs and you'll probably be parking far away.
babylon has more trains but the deer park trains are express more often (does that make sense?)
hth!

How long is your commute everyday from Huntington? I'm just curious b/c my commute is SOO long!! I'm wondering if there's a quicker way to get where I have to go (grand central). Thanks!

I take the BAbylon train every morning, 6:32 train. There is a cheap lot around the corner where you need quarters. 1 quarter is 2 hours. So, I usually spend $1.50 a day. Let me know if you need any other info! Its $235 a month for a monthly ticket from Babylon if you buy it online!
