Hi ladies, I need your help with something NWR. My mom and I are looking to do a long weekend away at the end of July. We want to go somewhere within driving distance of NY. I have done some online research, but it is hard to know what is really good. So many places are very expensive or require a 3 night minimum in the summer. We were looking to go for 2 nights. I would like to spend no more than $150 a night.
I am very open. I have looked into Martha's Vineyard, Providence, the Catskills, Lake George, the Hamptons, Fire Island, Baltimore Harbor, and the Jersey Shore (which I don't know what towns are good).
Any recommendations/suggestions?

i LOVE martha's vineyard, but it is kind of pricey...we stayed at the oak house and it was amazing! i also love eastern LI north shore, stay in a B&B, walk to the vineyards and the beach, i would recommend the blue iris in cutchogue... the jersey shore, i would recommend spring lake, not that far and absolutely gorgeous! never stayed there but went to a wedding there and it was so beautiful, the whole town!

My fiance and I went away for a weekend in Mystic, Connecticut. There are a lot of little inns. And the seaport was filled with little shops.

Check out Lake Placid. FH and I went there for our 1 year anniversary and loved it. Its both a winter and summer town. There's a big lake, an adorable town with shops and restaurants and lots of hotel choices ranging in price and niceties.
It's about a 5 hour drive from Long Island -- and the drive is beautiful!

I 2nd Lake Placid... FH and I went there last summer and loved it... We stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn, was beautiful, not sure of the prices but if you can go during the week, much better off... Good luck.

Lake George is nice...or on the Jersey Shore, Cape May, it has all those victorian B&B's, you could stay in one of those or in a hotel. THey have cute little shops too
