NWR looking for a co-op

ok.. so I'm a Massapequa girl.. and I work in Bayside..

FH works in Manhattan and takes the train..

so we are looking for a co-op somewhere near Bayside.. but close enough that FH can walk to the train..

Some people told me to check out Forest Hills and Auburndale.. does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks!!

I recommend Forest Hills also - we live in Rego Park (about 1 mile from there) and will look to buy a coop closer to Forest Hills after we are married

Really safe area, express subways to the city plus the LIRR - the drive to bayside shouldn't be more than 20 mins. Most of the coop bldgs have garages that are under 200 per month (I have found some for 125). Lots of restaurants and things to do. We love it here

I recommend Forest Hills too! Lots of nice places, nice neighborhoods, and public transportation.

Oh ok

well i live in kew gardens and the LIRR is close, also forest hills.

I also LOOOVE astoria, its where i grew up...by car its 10-15 mins from bayside and VERY close to manhattan, where in manhattan does your FH work...to lexington from astoria is 13 mins exactly just to give you a general idea of how close it is, and this is you live on ditmars, other areas of astoria are even closer to the city

I keep seeing a ton of co-ops for sale in Kew Gardens.. is that close to bayside (my queens knowledge is all of like a 20 block radius)

FH works right near Penn Station that's why he wants to take the LIRR.. he works on 34th and 11th.

Thanks again

[haha thanks

I live where you want to live, if you find an apt in auburndale (they are very hard to come by) you've got it made. The auburndale train station is walking distance from any apt in auburndale. I have a website I like to search but I'm leaving work now I'll help you out in a bit.

YEAH kew gardens is very close to bayside, just a very short drive...i dont even get on the highway, i can take it locally and its very close...yeah theres TONS of co-ops in kew gardens

Well from kew gardens to penn station its exactly 17 mins so that would be good for your FH. But just so you know from astoria to 34th its about the same time like around 20 mins...although in astoria there are not many co-ops

what price range are you looking for?

i know by me theres always co-ops for sale...and again i will still also suggest astoria. Like i said for your FH it would take him the same amount of time to get to 34th street, plus it would be cheaper bc he would take the nyc mta trains, also you wouldnt deal with the bs i deal with...If i miss the LIRR train by me at 7:40am, ihave to wait 30 mins for the next one, at least from astoria they leave every 5 mins. I also would suggest LIC, they have great apartments there too and the area is really being built up

I just saw an apartment on craigslist in astoria for $295,000

I live in Fisherman's wharf co-ops in West Babylon. I walk home from the train, about 10 min. 3 min. drive. There are tons of express trains around an hour. I work in the city too. Here is a pic off of my balcony! And we are right by the beach! FH works in Hauppauge so we cant move further west.
