NWR - macbook? anyone have one?

NWR - macbook? anyone have one?

i have been thinking about buying a macbook for a while!! I think I might do it tonight, but I am uncertain about which one to get. The basic one runs about 1100 - but for 1300 i can upgrade - but do I need to for just basic stuff? Ugh sometimes I wish I was a computer geek

any ideas?

usually the upgrade are programs you use.

for a mac its different but for example for my comp the upgrade included anti-virus and the MS applications which came out to less if i wouldve bought them on my own.

Just when you go there ask what is given for the upgraded price, which they will tell you regardless and then you can decide for yourself if its something you'll use

If you want to FM me specific ?s my FH is a nerd and has a macbook. He got the basic one and is perfectly content. He said the upgrades aren't necessary for basic use. Good luck - you'll love it!

not sure if you already bought it, but I have a macbook, just the basic one and it was perfect!

But be careful with mac books, if you like to use it on your lap, like myself, you will probably need an air vent, and use can of air every now and again to get all the dust out! and if you have any more questions don't hesitate to FM, my FH is a tech geek lol, but from going to a tech school I learned alot about computers, so I'm sure between the two of us we would be able to help!

I just checked the site and compared the two, there is not much of a difference, the only thing is that you get more hard drive space and if you dont think you need that much then i wouldn't worry about the upgrade.

My FH has the macbook, he upgraded, I swear he looks that thing more than me, hahahaah. He is forcing me to buy one also

I have a macbook....they are a prerequisite for science nerds!
I have the upgraded one, which is really just more space on the hard drive. It doesn't come with any extra programs or anything. I would also highly recommend getting the extended warranty just in case. I think its an extra couple hundred bucks, but well worth it since the mac people charge 50 bucks an hour to fix things.

thanks for ALL of the advice girls - i think im going to get the basic one tonight with the apple care warranty - cant wait, ive had the same notebook comp since I started college ..ugh..

also, we have wireless in my house BUT everyone has PCs - can I still use the mac wireless? i guess these are prob all questions ill have to ask the tech tonight!!

yes, you can still use the mac wireless. It comes all ready to go for you, all you have to do is find a network, its super easy

i am of NO help. Good Luck, getting a new computer is so exciting.

I just dont like macs. I find them so hard to use. I can do anything on my PC. Im i feel like a moron on a Mac! ( I know they are great for graphic artists and etc, which i am not, bor me i'll stick with my pc hehehe)

My brothers fiance has one. It is soo much fun. I like it but it takes some getting used to. I am used to XP.

Buying a Mac will be the best decision you ever made. I used to be an avid pc user and thought Macs were all hype but FH is a Mac guy and now im hooked. We have 3 Macs here at the house. A Powerbook, a MacBook, and a Mac Mini. The MacBook is our newest comp and its absolutely fabulous! You definitely do not need the more expensive one if you just need it for basic computer needs. Like someone said earlier, youre basically just buying more hard drive space, and the cheapest Mac comes with plenty! And they are basically ready to use out of the box!

I have a macbook and an IMAC desktop....I love them both, although i am still making the transition from MS...The only neg on the macbook is the battery runs out quickly (1-1.5) If you are using the mac for leisure i really would not spend more on upgrades, it comes with so much stuff you dont need to spend the money...
