NWR: Make a Difference Foundation - Scam?

Hey ladies,

I apologize in advance for posting a thread that is not wedding related but I am getting a little nervous... This young kid came to the door selling magazine subscriptions in order to raise money for the Make a Difference Foundation...

He said that all high school students that graduated and are going into a military field have the opportunity to raise money and receive points, whoever got the most points got to go on a trip to Italy for free.... So FH answers the door, tells me whats up, and I say just say we want to give a donation not get a subscription and see what he says. So the kid talks it up and says that he has to do this in order to help his communication skills because he's going to the airforce for linguistics... his father is angry with him because he wanted him to go into the marines but it's his dream... Whatever.

Okay long story short, this kid asks to come into the house so he can lean on the dining room table to get our information for a subscription - since i figured the $10 donation would cover it - writes out everything and then tells us that a year subscription to a magazine is 50 dollars... So we tell him that it's way too much and can't do anything but the 10 donation and he writes 'VOID' over our info in huge letters and stomps out of the house...

***?!

Not before leaving a sticker on our door that says Save Your Knocks - Tiny Tim Rocks DYNASTY 211

Sigh.

Google turned up nothing about this organization and I dont care that he got some money but I am nervous about the fact that he now has our names addresses and phone numbers. Ugh I hate myself for being caring and nice sometimes LOL!

Has this happened to anyone else? Because apparently they're going around the entire island

I know I know, I'm an a$$, I promise I wont open the door for anyone again

Sigh... so I found another thread on a different forum about this and if it happens to you dont do it!!!

Good thing the kid only got a minimal amount, still kinda pissed about it though...

IF SOMEONE COMES TO YOUR DOOR SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT A GIRLS VS BOYS TEAM COMPETITION TELL THEM TO BEAT IT!!!

try contacting your local high school and asking about it, it could be legit through a different name, some organizations organize stuff for schools then the school names the 'organization' on what its for.

Yeah it really is so ******... No joke, after dinner FH and I got so angry that we went out looking for him LOL! We stopped this cute couple on their bikes and they were like that kid has been knocking on the entire neighborhood's doors!!! Stop him!!!

If any of you see him, punch him in the face, take back my 10 and then tell him he had a near death experience and to stay away from my FH
