About 40-50 people lost their jobs due to the downturn of the industry. They notified the affected people by calling for 4 brief meetings. I was in one of the first 3, in which the Director said that all of our jobs were safe, but that we had to be sensitive to those on the floor who would find out they were being laid off today.
The last meeting, those in attendance were told that today was their last day of work, to pack up and head out. People were chosen arbitrarily, and I am just thankful that with all the costs of the wedding that I still have my job. Just wanted to share.

Happy to hear you still have a job, but I feel bad for those who lost them I am so scared of layoffs... I am hoping we still get our end of year bonus to help pay for the wedding but it's not looking to good

Glad you made it out alive. I was laid off 2 weeks ago, and but my last day isn't until next week. It sucks to have to pack up and leave that day, but at least they didn't have to keep dragging their sorry behinds to work for three weeks after getting the boot like I do.
So glad for you that you averted the ax!!

This economy is really killing! Someone at my job today got let go because of an audit. Glad you didn't get cut.

i'm so sorry to hear about your job! A lot of my former co-workers took it as a blessing in disguise, especially since two beloved managers were also let go, replaced by a new 'regime.' I hate this job, it's not my dream (or anyone's at all) to work in a call center, especially when I have my Master's. I'm looking for work every day, because I don't trust that this will be the last time they go to the chopping block.
