NWR: May be losing my teaching job

I am so sad because it looks like my school won't have the money to keep me for Septemeber. They are going to try, but I won't know until around May.

I am so upset with the wedding coming up in October. Now I have to finish wedding plans and find a new job. It took me so long to find this one. I am just afraid I won't have one.

If any teachers think their school will be hiring, please let me know. I am certified in Pre-K-6 and looking to work in Queens/Nassau. Public , Catholic or private is fine with me.
I have to start handing out resumes soon.

Please pray they keep me!

No it's a public school. I was lucky to land a 'F' status position which is only three days a week, but I didn't care because I was thankful just to get a job. I sub the other two days anyway.

It looks like there are no full time openings coming up and they definitely can't keep me at F status. They won't know until May, but I have to keep my options open. Everyone says 'You never know..things change', but I have such anxiety about it. It took me so long just to get his job.

I guess I will have to wait and see.

No I only have a common branch license. If I had special ed certification I know I would be able to find a job. My school could probably even keep me.
I should have gone back for a second Master's.

Teaching isn't the easiest- it's so hard to find something permanent!

I know.. I truly love what I do too. I work very hard and it just seems liek I can't catch a break.

when i was looking for a new teaching job, i sent my resume to every single elementary school in the nicer parts of queens. i got ten phone calls.

where do you work now? if in the city and getting excessed, they have to place you somewhere else.

I think that because I am F status they don't consider me being excessed. Am I wrong?

I work in Flushing. I don't care where in Queens I work (well almost anywhere), as long as it is in Queens.

That's disappointing; I was almost excessed last year, so I feel you.

If you're excessed, they have to place you, and you're still on payroll... but I don't know if that applies to f-status teachers. The online transfer system opens in early March, and you'll have access to that. Apply to schools you like online, and then mail/fax/email your resume and a cover letter to each place. Walk your resume into the scholl(s) you really want to work in.
