What apr are you getting?
We got 6.125 with 1 point. I know that interest rates went up but just wondering what everyone is getting (more or less)

TIA

i hope that the rates flucuate back down by the time we close on a house - im thinking we might close in the next few months if things go the right way with this house we are interested in....im hoping we could get something in the 5's

i just closed yesterday and shopped around A LOT and we could only get 6.375. FH and I have nearly perfect credit (both in the 700 and 800s) and there is nothing lower. According to the news and everything they are not supposed to drop anytime soon. The only thing you can check into is like Sallie Mae (spelling?) which can get you a lower rate. My friend just locked in at 5.75 with that. We were told FH and I make too much money to qualify which I TOTALLY do not feel like we do lol. I think you have to make less that 92,000 a year combined income or something like that. HTH.

we are closing tomorrow, and both fh and i have credit ratings in the 800s.. we got 6.25 with 1/2 a point. Unfortunately rates are much higher than a few months ago where we were offered 5.5.

My FH and I are going to get pre-approved next month. How many of you found that you were able to afford a house. I'm a bit nervous. Our combined income is less than $100,000. He works for the post office so I'm hoping that will help. We aren't looking for a dream house but just a starter home.

5.75 with 0.5 pt, closed in April. FH is a mortgage banker.

Wow, I thought it only went up to 800, at least that is what the FH told me!

Good luck with the closing! Congrats!

Credit ratings go to about 850. My fiance is 810.
We closed in Jan-08 and got 6.12 FIXED. The rates had dropped at one point but we were already locked in. Ladies, The key is FIXED. Please make sure you all got fixed. The reason why so many are going into forclousre is the variable rate adjusts. I would also figure out what you can afford on your own. The mortgage people will approve you for more.
Many expenses you don't expect. We just got an oil deliver and it was $900- and that will only last 3 months. Go in with your eyes wide open.
We didn't qualify for Sallie mae either.

We're hoping to lock in the next few weeks or so, as we will probably not close until Sept/Oct. They did go down a bit in the last week, hopefully the trend will continue.

when we first started looking a few months ago the rate was 5.87, but by the time we went into contract we got a rate of 6.25%..so your definitely in the ballpark..good luck hunting!
