Re: NWR: mosquito bites - help!
The only ones ive heard of are to put rubbing alcohol on them or to use ivory soap when you shower. But if those other things are not working i have no idea.
Something else that works (very) temporarily is to press an X into them with your finger nail.

I apply ice to the mosquito bite for about 15 minutes...it reduces the swelling. It doesnt really relieve the itch right away...but I feel like it heels quicker.

ha! My mom put vinegar on me when i was younger - def takes the itch out :) HOWEVER!!! I was attacked by the little buggers while sleeping last fall - and if you have scratched it already and have the smallest opening in your skin it can really inflame it. well at least thats what happened to me.
you're lucky - at least you didn't get bitten right on your ring finger the night before traveling home after just getting engaged to show off your ring (ok and fiance) to the family ....yeah thats what happened to me. i had to put my ring on a chain because my finger was so swolen :(

don't laugh...but...
using your finger nail - make an X on the bite itself. Try to make the center point of the X land right in the middle of the bite. MAKE IT HURT.
this forces the poison out into your blood stream as opposed to keeping it all focused in one place. Drink lots of water to flush out your system too...

Yeah I do the X thing too. I also read that putting toothpaste with baking soda relieves it as well. Never tried it though. Good luck! DH and I got eaten in Curacao 2 years ago, and we had these humongous welts that itched like crazy. We actually had to go to the doctor at the resort because it itched so bad.

get the stick. Just remember taking the oral and putting it on your skin is double dosing and you can OD yourself.
