My mother's birthday is coming up (she turns the big 60) and I still haven't bought her a present!! I am completely stonewalled for ideas. I was considering getting Broadway tickets...something like dinner and a show in the city since she doesn't venture into Manhattan often,,
can anyone suggest good B'way shows? Lion King? Is that worth seeing?

South Pacific has a fabulous cast and the music is beautiful. If she is a seafood person, I suggest the Ocean Grill for dinner. It is on 78th and Amsterdam and the food/service is wonderful.

Lion King was great. It depends on what she's into- if she loves Disney then Lion King is perfect, or even Beauty & the Beast!
If you're looking for more typical Broadway, Les Miserables is my favorite then Phantom of the Opera.
Or, if your mom is the hip 60 y/o, Avenue Q!

Thanks - yeah I dont think shes a Disney person..her style is more like M Butterfly or Miss Saigon.
South Pacific sounds like a good idea - I think Avenue Q would be way over her head..!

We got my parents tickets to South Pacific and they absolutely loved it. They also saw Jersey Boys a few months back and loved it too because growing up she loved the group!!

I believe Wicked is still around, I thought it was great.
You can also try West Side Story or Hair Spray(thought it was amazing).

All the suggestions were great guys! I just bought tickets to take her to see Blue Man Group..I saw their show a few years ago and loved it..It would be perfect for her...
