I want to make something like this but i dont have $$ for the roses or carnations. can i somehow use red tulle or something like that?
this is for a chinese new year party for my seniors and we already have the chinese food containers but we have pretty much no $$ for flowers even carnations so i need creative input! tia
Why not fill them with candy? Or, put a box inside them and light a candle..(put a votive in a tube candle holder to prevent fire. )
I mean tulle could be pretty, you need to experiment...
Why not see if the florist can give you the cheapest red flower in your budget? I think if you do a potted plant from say a supermarket, they be inexpensive too...

i like the candy idea. one of my staff just suggested putting a square of tulle inside the box and then a bunch of fortune cookies on top of that, and then a gold ribbon around the box.
