NWR - Need Help w NYC Attractions

I need help from all you NYC gals. Well maybe not. I worked in the city for years and never went to any of these places!! I did some on school trips in elem school but that´s it!! I am thinking about getting a NY Pass. Basically its a set price for a certain number of days and you get to see as many of their 50 attractions as you want (or can fit in to a day!!) I want to figure out if its worth it so I´m figuring out what we want to see and how many days it would take. I´ve listed the places with the amount of time I´m told it takes. If you´ve been there, let me know if you agree. We will have FHs daughter whose 8 with us.

Top of the Rock - 1 hour
NBC Tour - it takes 1 hour and I was told there is usually not that much of a wait
Maddam Tussaud - 2 - 5hours
Moma - 2.5 - 3 hours
Radio City Tour - same as NBC
Empire State Building - 2 hours (they say there´s a long wait)
Madison Square Garden Tour - same as NBC
Guggenheim - 2.5 - 3 hours
Mus of Nat Hist - I was told at least 5 hours - is that too much?
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - haven´t gotten through on the phone - how much time do you recommend?
Intrepid Sea and Space Museum - haven´t gotten through on the phone - how much time do you recommend?

We´ll do the statue of liberty on a separate day because the city pass doesn´t cover it. We´ll prob do the mus of nat hist that same day b.c its on donation basis so I won´t sweat it if we can´t get to it with the pass.

Any thoughts?

the Intrepid Sea - Air Space Museum - I love that, but it could be because i come from a family full of navy people and my dad was on that ship back in the 1970's. they just re did it and supposedly it now has more stuff than before - my guess would be give yourself about 3 hours. i am going on saturday, i can let you know for sure.

the museum of natural history - once again, it all depends on if you stand there and read everything or just kind of look. i was there last summer and we spent about 3 hours., although we did not go to every part of the museum.

the empire state building - last time i went it was a sat night in may and we walked right up to buy the tickets and had no wait getting on the elevators to go up. i guess it depends on time the day/year.

Sadly, I've lived and worked in Manhattan for 8 years and I still haven't been to many of these places!

The places I've been the most are Museums (we got engaged at the Museum of Natural History!) and I don't think you need at least 5 hours--maybe 4 hours top.

If its a beautiful day, why don't you try the Highline? Its a beautiful scenic park between the Meatpacking District and Chelsea.

Also, one of the bus tours that start in Times Square will take you to a lot of these places on the list!

Good luck--you make me want to start seeing the city more!

Hmm, let's see.

The Museum of Natural History is a lot of fun, very hands on - I think an 8 yo would enjoy it! Don't think you'd need 5 hours though, maybe 3 is more accurate.

MSG tour ... I mean, I've been there for concerts ... not sure what you'd need to see on a tour.

I did Top of the Rock, was very nice alternative to the Empire State Building, which I've also done but feels a bit claustrophobic ...

Madame Toussaud's is a BLAST and an 8 yo would love that!

I've never been a fan of MOMA and only done it once ... not an 8 yo's dream ... to me and especially when I was a kid ...

For Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it wouldn't be more than an hour and a half.

Empire State Bldg. depends on if there's a line or not

Museum of Natural History - depends on the stamina you have! You can easily fill 5 hours, or after 3 think you've had enough! 4-5 hrs. is probably a safe bet though.

also have to think about time btwn events. . transportation etc. . . and i dont think you would nec want to do top of the rock AND empire state bc when it comes down to it they're both just buildings with a view. . museums it soooo depends upon what you want to see. . you know you could just walk in and see one exhibit or spend the whole day there.

for an 8 yr old I might pick on or two and then go do other stuff .like FAO schwartz. .and go eat ice cream at serindipity or something then maybe empire state and natural history museum. .or ice skating in rockefeller center. . or /carousel in central
def statue of lib and ellis island though
