On and off for years my mom has had what I thought was migranes. She was doing well until the day after my wedding and now she has them often. She said they're not headaches but she feels a fullness in her ears, vertigo, light sensitivity, and she feels like if she moves, she's going to vomit which is sometimes does. Does anyone know someone with the same problem? What type of treatment are they receiving? She keeps going to her primary care and they are telling her it's allergies. Any help would be appreciated!

She needs to get an MRI if she hasn't done so already. It may be just migrains but it's best to check to make sure it's not something more.

IMO I would tell your mom to try going to a ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor. If he can't diagnosis it then she should go to a nuerologist. If still they think it is allergies she should go for allergy testing at a allergist. Good luck.

Re: NWR: Need help with my mom
I go to a migraine specialist. He's wonderful. Very nice, patient and throrough. The very first thing they did for me was send me for an MRI to rule out anything more serious. His name is Dr. Ira Turner and he has two offices... one on Manetto Hill Road in Plainview and the other on Old Country Road in Plainview. I have his number at work, but I'm not going into day, but I'm sure you can look him up. He can recommended by my primary care doc, who I also love. I'm surprised your mom's main doc didn't send her to a migraine specialist. Definitely go and make sure it's 'just migraines' (which are bad enough!!!)
Good luck... i hope your mom feels better!

Re: NWR: Need help with my mom
There are numerous things this could be, and honestly, she should go see a doctor ASAP - whether it be an ENT or Neurologist.
Self-Diagnosis via search on the internet comes up with so much, and it can be very aggrevating and not worth the mental anguish.
I will keep your mom in my thoughts and prayers, please keep us updated.

Re: NWR: Need help with my mom
My Mother has the same symptoms!!! She was finally diagnosed with vertigo caused by inner ear fluid build up. Your mom needs to be evaluated by an ENT, and if that comes up clean, neurologist. My mother's treatment when she has a vertigo attack is usually antivert and rest.
The truth is that there are a lot of things that can give similar symptoms, I suggest seeing these docs, and letting them get her the treatment she needs!
-Good Luck!

That sounds like a migrain, but she should really go to the doctor. They can help her.
