I was looking for a unitl/topic that is fun and that I could use for all grades and possibly stretch out for the month of May (I only see them once a week).
I am all out of ideas.
I think my school is having an international might coming up. Maybe something with culture????
Any ideas in any topic would be great???????
Thanks

I'm not a teacher, but I remember in first grade we all had to bring in a 'cultural' dish (I'm Irish, so I brought in potatoes) and explain a little about our culture. Hope that helps!

I did a lesson (for an observation) about community members..it was for a 1st grade class. You could do a lot more with it, if you're interested.

Re: NWR: Need Lesson plan help K-2
I've seen a lesson that is great, but it takes a lot of work to prepare. The teacher who did the lesson was introducing a unit on China. She bought a bunch of things related to the Chinese culture and put them in box labeled 'air mail' that was addressed to the class. Then she had the students try to guess what each item was as she took them out of the box. The kids got really into it.

I am a dance teacher. So, I was thinking of teaching some dances from other countries. I hope that I helped you out.

i taught kindergarten formany years adn now do art. my favorite time was the end of the year. each lesson we picked a country adn read a little book about it (usually those 'COUNT YOUR WAY THROUGH -add country here-- books). We discussed the most popular architectural sights, food, etc....and then to culminate we learned how to say Hello in the language. FOr each country we studies we made a hand (i traced mine). On it they had to write the country's name, the name of the language they spoke there and how to say hello in that language. Then in the middle of the hand on the paml, they drew one thing that represneted the country...the flag, the food, something historical, etc.... We also made passports and stamped them with the date we learned about the country (liek they actually went there). I chosse the countries based on where the kids were from and they were the ones that brought in the stuff from home. At the end of the whole thingwe had an international feast, where the kids all brought in food from their country and then spoke about the things they learned. It soudns a lot harder than it is and they love it because they are the ones guiding the study... i think the offical project is the HELLO project...you might find out more info if you google HELLO PROJECT. hope that helped...FM me if you need anything else....

How about a dinosaurs unit? Primary level kids love this topic!! I teach Kindergarten and it was their favorite unit by far this year! Discuss how they moved and hid from each other, the king, what they ate, fossils, etc.

maybe a theme called around the world in ___ days (you fill in the number of days you will see them) Then introduce a different culture with a few small activities each time you meet.
