NWR: new car

NWR: new car

just for the record i think having a new car is too damn stressful. prior to having this car i had a 1984 Mercedes that i didn't give a crap about. i ran that thing into the ground like no one would believe.

anyway. now FH & I have a 2009 Honda Accord & all it does is cause me stress. after having it only 5 months someone stole the tires. so now my mom lets us park in the driveway which is another whole set of problems, because she works in the afternoon & doesn't get home from work until 9PM. so we have to save a spot for her & then switch when she gets home.

i just got a text from FH telling me that i nicked the door on the damn bricks in the driveway.

apparently in an effort for Honda to save money all of the Accords from like 2000 on ward use the same exact size tires. the problem is to replace the tires & rims (like we had to) it cost us $2,500.00 (for 2 tires). since we had a $1,000.00 deductible we only got $1,500.00 back from the insurance company.

so either someone wanted new tires & rims on their old car or as the police told FH our tires where one craigs list the same day.

Re: NWR: new car

fh had a hub cap stolen off his... I swear his honda accord has been through more issues then any other car either of us have owned.

1- we're driving to holtsville ecology center for a volunteer thing, it start pouring, we get lost and end up running late, finally get directions and he's going pretty fast (not speeding, but fast considering the WATERFALL that is coming down)... he hits a puddle-next thing we know... the car makes this weird sound and jerks... we realize its the tire.. I look on my side and it looks like a sword is sticking out of the tire... ends up he hit a branch underwater and it got stuck to the cap and ripped it off... so there we are with a knife in the pouring rain trying to cut this hub cap off because he couldn't drive with it, without ruining the car.
(MONTHS later he finally buys new caps. they are freaking expensive)

2- we go to the petstore/auto shop on sunrise hwy, of course.. no parking in the lot, so he parks on the shoulder of sunrise... where you ARE allowed to.. we go into autobarn... next thing we know someone is asking if we own a silver car, we say yes and they tell us its just been hit... blah blah blah some idiot backed into the passenger side door and took off, meanwhile there were witnesses (who kindly took down the license plate number for us) that were screaming at him to watch out then stop! soooo weeks later, SCPD finally investigates the persons house (which we had already done- i'm sneaky like that) and he confesses, so FH gets the $7000 job done.

3- red pain shows up streaked across the back of his car, meanwhile... it was parked in his driveway on a dead end street that no one goes down and there aren't any red cars around (mind you, he seriously checks his car DAILY)

4- now there's blue paint on his passenger side mirror

5- a hubcap is 'missing' well most of it at least, whoever tried to steal his hubcap didn't realize they are BOLTED on and you need a key to remove them... so they just pulled and pulled and ripped them, so FH buys RIMS

but the rims were for a honda civic... so that means we had to buy new tired and have them fitted and its just been a HUGE headache!

the end

it makes me feel better knowing that its not just FH & I. we got those stupid locks so our tires should be fine.

the entire tire stealing situation just really ticked me off. it wasn't the money, it was the fact that FH had to stay home for an entire day to deal with the situation. it took about 5 hours for the police to come to just say, 'your tires are probably listed on craigs list by now.'
then we didn't have a car for a week because Honda had to wait for the insurance adjuster & didn't order the tires until after the adjuster came. then we had to pay the entire thing in full & wait to get a check from the insurance company.
we are both hard working people & it really ticks me off when other people out their just go around stealing stuff.
