does anyone know the exact page on NYC BOE website to register for a File number with the city???
TIA!!
ETA: I might be offered a job in NYC. Do I just need to register for a file number?? I already have all my certification and been working on LI. Not sure what else I need to do.
Get that file number! You can't be hired without one. Also see about sending them your info about your fingerprints being clear - when I went for my Cert., NY State and NYC didn't share fingerprint info, and I had to send in some form so that they would. I almost didn't get my cert. in time because of it.
Good luck!

When i got my job in queens the school got my file # for me. I didnt have to apply for it. Also, that OSPRA form went through quickly. The region tried telling me the same thing about not being able to teach without clearance. I had no problems. hope that helps! where do you think you are getting a job>?

I don't believe you have to apply for a file number. when i was hired, i was given a file number.... i wouldn't worry about it too much. as long as you have your clearance and your state certification, they'll hire you. i did not apply for a file number, it was assigned to me after i was hired.
