NWR: NYC Teachers...How was your first day of school?
Let me just say...I had a terrible first day! I had to repeat myself over and over and over again and the kids still didn't do what I asked of them. It's going to be a lonnnnng year. I need a drink already!

sorry you had a bad day! What age do you teach? My day was good! The kids started getting on each others nerves by the end of the day but they were pretty good! Def need a drink though!! hahaha

Every time I gave my kids directions they would just stare at me with a blank face and their mouths open. I guess they are still in summer mode. I teach 2nd. How about you?

special ed 7/8.. 12:1 class--they were more tired than anything.. haha

my day was ok... i was clueless as to what i was supposed to do (i am a HS math teacher but they gave me 5 classes of typing!) anyways the students were good today (but it is the first day) but working the 10:15-5:05 s*cks!

I had a great day! My program is pretty sweet. I only teach 2 classes and the kids seemed pretty good. My office was cleaned over the weekend and they made sure my computer was up and running. Hopefully tomorrow will be just as good.

Today was good. Kids got into the swing of things and were pretty well behaved. I'm tired though!!

Sorry you had a bad day!
Mine went pretty smoothly, a bit of chaos in the morning since we voted in a new SBO to have a time change (37 min mandated program is now in the morning) but things went better than I expected. I was extremely anxious last night (my poor FH got the brunt of my crabbiness) but having things planned out in advance helped.
How many days until summer vacation????????? Anyone wanna start a countdown?

Luckily I didnt have many criers. (I teach Kindergarten). The kids only came in for 3 hours but it felt like it was a full day and Im exhausted. I forgot how the begining of the year is!

the kids were good, the administratoin is awful!!! completely unorganized. we didnt know if we were having extended day, 5 minutes b4 dismissal they give us a list. they are so stupid wherei work!! another girl had a class and then they took it way there were 3 kids on her roster as of friday. then today 14 kids show up and they make the excessed music teacher stay with the kids, when the otherr teacher is waiting.
and this is the norm where i work!!!
