NWR - Oily skin

NWR - Oily skin

Does anyone have relly oil skin? I have those oil absorbing sheets and literally use about 6 or 7 a day while I am at work. I go to the dermotologist and I am on an antibiotic for my skin and 2 creams, but the oilyness does not go away. Anyone have any good products to use?? TIA!!

What kind of creams did your derm prescribe?

Olay daily facials has this toner that I use. I just rub it on with a tissue a few times a day, and it really helps control oil. Especially before bed, so that while you sleep you don't have breakouts. Hope this helps.

I thought I was the only one! I wanted to post this but thought no one would respond. It's so gross and I hate it! It take about a half hour after I wash my face for it to be oily again. Im so scared that for my wedding I'm going to literally be shinning. I went to a vow renewal this weekend and look at my face I think i'm going to by those oil absorbing pads. The good thing is that I heard that people with oily skin are less likely to get wrinkles and age better.

If you are using creams as prescribed by your derm, I would speak to them about it before attempting any other product. Usually the Rx's are extremely potent, and any other product may contraindicate the effects of the cream, possibly making the condition worse! I would speak to your derm, and explain that describe the prescribed creams and antibiotics, you are still oily. They may need to change your scripts.

Is your skin acting adversely to these?

I had to go on Accutane. I LOVE it!!! (Despite all the negatives about it!) I was on it 4 years ago and have yet to see a pimple pop up or have really oily skin like I used to.

ETA: I spent thousands of dollars on prescription creams, pills, etc. OTC too...not to mention all the derm appts!

My biggest side effect that was listed was the dryness of the nose...ugh...I hated that! It hurt...but I have beautifully clear skin now and have for over 4 years. During the time I was on it I had to get a blood test done every month and have a derm appt every month too. They checked for pregnancy and liver damage...can't remember what else. Luckily everything was fine and my skin is clear. One less thing to worry about during the entire wedding planning...

I only had to do one 6 month treatment.

Yeah, I was on Accutane in college - my skin was perfect for a year afterwards. Now it is back to normal, and I acutally think it made my skin worse in many ways. It takes noticeably longer for pimples that I get to go away....a lot more scarring than before accutane. Like my derm says, you can control acne, but you can't cure it. It *****!
