nwr: ok, I'm really really scared now
So, I'm innocently checking my email on yahoo, and I notice a link to an article entitled 'are you a sitting duck for bird flu?'
for some indescribably reason, I decide to click the link and read.
It's all about how people are stockpiling their houses and prepping for a pandemic, and how even the health department website is telling people we need to plan for a pandemic, and how people shouldn't be so complacent, and although it's not definite we'll have a pandemic, we need to be prepared.
So, I decide to look up the government website on avian flu, and it basically says the same thing: scientists are worried that the flu will mutate, and we should really be prepared.
I was kind of nervous about it before, but I'm terrified now. Getting seriously ill is really one of my biggest fears. The whole idea absolutely terrifies me.
This is really really getting to me... and I have nobody at home to talk to about it to calm me down. I'm so scared. Somebody please tell me it will be ok. Please? It's all the way in Europe, right? They're not going to send any European chickens here. Right? Isn't there some way they can stop people who are sick from traveling?
Sorry for flipping out like this... I just have nobody home to talk to. And I have a term paper I really really really need to work on, but now I'm scared and distracted and I can't concentrate...
Also, I'm booking my wedding at Flowerfield, and they have geese and swans all over the place there (outside). There are bound to be bird droppings around, even though they do a good job of cleaning them up. Should I be worried about this?
Ah... I know I'm being ridiculous...
