NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
My Fh and his friends are going there this weekend, and I am trying to decide if I should go too. I am not a real drinker or bar person, but every year when they go I stay home. So what do you all think of this place, should I go? OR is the place gross?

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
i have to say it is so much fun! try it at least once!my friend works the door, and my other friend big dave goes around taking pics of everyone. they wind up on a site you can view them on later!
wear shorts and old SNEAKERS. definately not a place to dress your best.
some people walk around in costume...they play really fun music like 'brown eyed girl' and 'build me up buttercup' and 'sweet child of mine'. it's really a blast. and if you feel frisky, throw beer on your FH!
i say try it once. its an experience that you'd probably not try again, then again maybe you will

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
IT IS A FUN PLACE BUT YOU HAVE TO LIKE TAP BEER AND YOU HAVE TO NOT MIND GETTING LOTS OF BEER POURED ON YOU (BY ACCIDENT OF COURSE) JUST DON'T SAY IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME OR YOU WILL FIND SOME OBNOXIOUS BOYS THAT POUR BEER ON YOU INTENTIONALLY WHICH IS NO FUN... BUT IF YOU GO AND YOU GET DRUNK YOU WILL HAVE LOTS OF FUN.. JUST DON'T WEAR NICE CLOTHES THEY WILL GET RUINED AND IF YOU CAN HELP IT WEAR SOME KIND OF PLATFORM FLIP FLOPS BECAUSE THE FLOOR GETS GROSS.. IF YOU GO ON THE WEBSITE YOU CAN SEE SOME PICS.. IF YOU GO HAVE LOTS OF FUN..

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
It's beyond gross - it's disgusting - unless you like having beer spilled on you as you stand shoulder to shoulder under a tent in 90 degree humid weather. Of course that's my opinion. And I won't even mention how awful the restrooms were (if you can get in). My husband, on the other hand, considers it the ultimate party place. What you think may depend on your age too - tends to be mostly a mid-20's crowd, although there are some older than that, living a regression weekend, like my husband and his friends or the birthday party that they saw a few weeks ago - all wearing T-shirts that said 'Over Forty and still Boardy'. I've just been told to suggest to you that if you do go, don't wear good shoes - they won't be good by the end of the night. Given that advice, I'd think twice about sandals too - it might be something more than beer that hits your feet.My advice - do what I did a few weeks ago. Offer to be the designated driver - drop them off then hightail it out to Southampton a do a bit of shopping - after the stores close (between 5 and 6) head on over to Dune Road - the far east end, and have a drink and some appetizers at Sunwaters or Oaklands - overlooking the water - much more enjoyable than getting drenched in beer. Take a book and relax in the King Kullen parking lot later in the evening as you wait for the party boys to stagger past the state troopers standing around watching to make sure they don't get behind the wheel. You can get them home safely. In any event, don't let any of them drive home - no one comes out of there under the legal limit.

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
This is just my opinion, but I went once and would never go back. Granted I was the dd, and being sober may have reduced the fun factor- but it was hot, sticky, dirty and I especially did not enjoy the beer pouring. If I remember right, alot of the guys were pretty 'grabby'. I am all for partying, but it just wasn't my scene.

Gross ~ how old are you guys? Definately the 18-24 y/o crowd. I went with a fake idea when I was 19.

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
I went there once and I was 21. My designated driver passed out drunk, I almost wet my pants because the bathroom line was so long, and someone poured beer down my shorts, and a complete stranger walked up to me and stuck his tongue down my throat...other than that it was great.I think if you are not a big party animal, you should probably skip it. It is a very young crowd and very rowdy. Being the DD is a good idea, bring a friend and go shopping or to lunch/dinner while the guys have their fun!!

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
The other reason why I was considering going is because a lot of his girl 'friends' are going. I never go along, and I feel like if the others girls go I should too. But they are much bigger partiers than I am. Oh well, cant wait until my FH outgrows this annual tradition...hahaha

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
Uh, I would pass if I were you. I heard that they DO NOT allow beer throwing like they used to. If you throw beer they toss you out. The reason I know this is that my little sister (20 yrs old) goes there with her friends. Hanging out with a bunch of underage age kids who have managed to get into a bar is not my idea of a good time. JMO.

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
I have to agree...I went there during college (they have a special day in the summer for certain schools) and it was like a frat party...which I enjoyed then...but would not now at 28...and probably not at 24 or 25 either...but I can understand why you would want to go...

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
I just attended a Bachelorette BBQ this weekend, where on Sunday at 4 p.m. the group of ladies headed to the Boardy Barn. I passed on it. It's just not me. Plus, at the tipe old ago of 30 and already married, I saw no point.I don't mean to offend anyone. It's just not the place to go to if you think you won't like it by what you've heard. I've been there in college, and had fun then.

The Boardy Barn is a very young crowd. It depends how old you are too. It is more like a young college crowd All of the posts were right about beer being spilled on you. If you dont drink I dont think you would enjoy the place. You end up walking out smelling like beer.

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
OH, NO! Not the boardy barn!! When I read the title of this post, I immediately can imagine the smell of stale tap beer, the feeling of being soaked from head to foot in it, the madness of a summer Sunday afternoon...and having the best time! That was a looooong time ago, though.
Like many of the above responses, I'd agree that it was fun back in the day but it really depends on the scene that you enjoy. We loved the BB when we were in our early 20's. Now it's just a bit too insane for me or my friends. You said that you're not a real drinker or bar person-this isn't the place for you then. Hit the beach then pick everyone up at the end of the day.
Thanks for reminding me of some very, very fun times. I've got to call my college roommate now and reminisce...

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
I also went there when I was in college, same as yabbobay (special day for each college) and I had fun, but I was a different person then, Now I dont think it would be my thing. I imagine it would be fun but you may get annoyed with the people more. I guess it all depends on you.But considering the age group, I would skip it.
good luck deciding

Re: NWR- opinions on the boardy barn...
Oh my...it has been a long time since I've been there. This post bring s back so many memories.I also went there right out of college (21-23) and I was single and had a blast...crazy drunk fun! We had some wild times.
I went back when I had a hampton house when I was 25ish with my finace and our friends and had fun but it wasn't the same. Guess I outgrew it. Being almost 30 I would love to go back to see what is like but I know once I got there I would be like what am I doing here (even though I still love to party)???
