NWR Oral Surgery....

Does anyone know whata crown lengthening is exactly? My FI has to have one done on Thursday and he is nervous he is going to be in a lot of pain. He lost a tooth in the car accident I have mentioned in the past and finally got approved for majority of the surgery and tooth replacement from his dental plan.

Just curious if anyone knows what this is about and if it is really painful.

that is really funny bc i have to get a crown lengthening too bc appearantly I am a really rare case and am allergic to the crown i had put in 6 mths ago...I haven't scheduled mine yet but....

they basically cut the gum lines back from around your tooth my dr said you will get little stitches that dissolve on its own and that it will heal in 2-4 weeks. Then I have to go get a new crown put in (not sure if your FH would need this but I have to have it)


edited: his surgery may be a ltitle different...in my case i only have to get gum tissue removed but crown lengthening can also be when u get some bone removed as well...it may take longer to heal if thats what ur fh needs..

Thanks for the info... he does need the crown also. He can't wait to have a tooth again... hes so self concious and I can't blame him but until the isurance agreed to pay it was going to be mega $$$$$$....

no problem...and yeah i haven't scheduled mine bc insurance is saying they won't cover it...we are trying to fight that now...its a lot of money that i dont want to shell out right now if they wont cover it.
