I wanted to thank everyone for their kind words for my surgery and recovery. It has been almost 3 weeks already. It was arthroscopic for a meniscus tear. Some people walk out of the surgery and most others are up and running 2 or 3 days or most a week. I am the exception. I thought I would be back to work within the week and I am still out. I may try to go back by Thursday. It has been so painful and a tough struggle to get here. My tear was in the ligament near the nerve endings and I had massive scarring. I injured it last Dec but they missed the tear. I have not been able to walk stairs or stand for long periods. I thought it would be a quick recovery, so I pushed to get it done before the wedding since it was June when I found out there was a tear. This week I started making progress finally. I took my first steps on Wednesday (since the surgery) and rode the exercise bike for the first time in 9 months. My therapist is an old friend/coworker from the past and has been pushing me hard to get back. It is the most excruciating pain even with pain pills beforehand. I now can walk with a cane and yesterday was the first day since surgery that I was able to get in and out of the shower on my own. I finally feel like I am moving forward. I still can't get into my house w/o assistance, not normally steps and I am still in pain but there has been so much progress this week. I don't need the pain pills anymore except therapy. I hope to be good as new for the wedding, that is my goal right now. I wanted to let you know I appreciated all the support I received from everyone on this site.

I'm glad to hear you're pushing through. I had arthroscopic knee surgery also for a meniscus tear...with time and with PT you'll be walking around soon. It did take me a while because I had other complications from that surgery but once I was able to start PT it worked wonders.

Thank you everyone. I may try to return to work on Wednesday. I am going to talk to the therapist today. The problem is the walk into work is long (I work at a large institiution) and not sure if I can sit for the whole day. I work with FH, so he said he would be around to help.

Talked to the physical therapist today, he wants to order a special brace that costs $190 month but should help me. He is going to see if the insurance will cover it. I will call him tomorrow to see. He doesn't think I am ready to return to work though, just yet. FH is able to give me some of his time off luckily, I just hate taking it from him, but it keeps the paycheck coming. I guess that means I have more time to spend on here

If he doesn't think you can go back then don't rush going back.
