NWR- Photographer Question

My sister and I want to give my parents a portrait of us for xmas. I don't want to spend a fortune (MAX- $300 between the 2 of us) but I don't want to sit in front of a fake background at JCPenneys either. Anyone know of any photographers that will do a short photo session for a reasonable price?

I would try Craig's list. They sometimes have photographers that are starting out willing to negotiate price for word of mouth advertising.

I think it's around $150/hour (so $300 if you want to do a 2-hour shoot). You'd also get all the proofs on CD, too, so you can just have them printed wherever you want.

What about the Picture People? We did this for my parents a few years ago. They will pose you differently for each shot. I don't know if you have one in Long Island though.

oh how nice! You could always try photography students from a local college too

if you're willing, try some art schools or photo depts at other colleges. they'll be cheap and are usually pretty good. it can be a gamble though, so be careful (some can be immature, but i find you're generally ok, esp if you're going through an art school. people take themselves WAY too seriously there).
