NWR: please help..my poor little doggies :(

my poor poor doggies they somehow got fleas the poor things! so here's the question...i wanted to get them the Frontline drops...usually works like a charm plus it kills eggs & the fleas themselves for up to 30 days...ANYWAYS, we realized they had them the other night and went to the store immediately...only they didn't have any frontline stuff - only Hartz. I've heard it was good so we just bought that since it was late at night & not much was open... well it's a week later & the poor things are still itching themselves. so now I wanna give them both a flea bath & then buy the Frontline like i originally wanted too...only thing is (and not to gross anyone out) they've been itching themselves so much that they've gotten Raw in some spots. I'm afraid the flea bath stuff is gonna sting them Does anyone a) if it will, or b) have any reccomendations for a gentle flea soap that'll rid them without hurting or stinging them??? I hafta wash them first before i can put the frontline on them(cant put it on top of the other stuff)...i know johnson & johnson is great for dogs but i was thinking the flea bath will do double the job. any help would be appreciated

I haven't had that problem with my doggie yet but we got Frontline from the vet. I comes in 3 and 6 months I think. The vet should be abe to give them some kind of bath to help them out. I hope they feel better soon!!!

This happened to my dogs last year. They also had gotten raw spots, but I gave them to flea bath anyway and it really didn't bother them. I bombed the house first and then gave them the flea bath because they recommend putting frontline 2 days after you give your dog a bath because it works better but I wanted to make sure there were no more fleas in the house. I also washed everything...sheets, dog beds, crate liners, throw blankets, rugs, anything a flea can hide in...in hot water. This took care of everything. HTH

Blue DAWN dish soap...
Home remedy and it works... Let it sit all over them for a minute....then wash it off..
I think it suffocated the fleas or something...
But try that!

Wash them with a puppy soap containing oatmeal. My dogs allergic to flea bites and this is the only thing that makes her skin less raw. Then you can put the frontline on them. Good luck

yeah when you do frontline don't wash the dogs for a couple days...it should kill eveything right away. you can wash them in regular bathing soap after that. that worked for my pup. also, like someone elsementioned, make sure you clean EVRYTHING in super hot water and bleach everything you can. good luck!

Be sure to ask your Vet for the spray on stuff for the carpets, couch, dog bed and anything that you can't throw into the washer. They won't go completely away if they are still in your carpets or furniture. Once there is a frost all of the fleas outside will die so you won't have to worry about the dogs getting them anymore until next year. At least that is what my Vet had told me.

If that happened to my puppy I would give the vet a call or his groomer a call. It doesn't hurt to ask. I hope your babies feel better soon.

Poor babies...they say this time of year is bad. I would call a vet...I would think that the flea bath might hurt them if they are raw from scratching. And you may not be able to put Frontline on them so soon after giving them the Hartz stuff.....call....a friend of mine got the wrong flea med for her cat and the cat got so sick it wound up passing away....you don't want to do more harm then good.

Good luck!!! Poor honeys!
