I have been an out of work attorney for a few months now (it just didn't work out at my last job situation), and now I'm struggling to decide if I even want to continue being a lawyer. I've been so miserable for so long, and it's been torture looking for a job. I'm also not a type-A personality, arguing, negotiating, cut-throat kind of person you need to be a lawyer.
So I am seriously considering a career change, and FH and family totally support this move. The two choices I'm thinking of are teaching and nursing. Upon research, I'm seeing the job market kind of stinks for both of these fields (not like law firms are really hiring either).
I was wondering if any of you out there who are teachers or nurses have any suggestions. Do you like what you do? Is the market really as bleak as it seems? Would a JD help in either situation?
Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Why dont you look into different types of law? Environmental, marketing etc. I know in my field we confer w lawyers to write contracts and rules. Theres no arbitration or trials etc

IM an RN in oncology.I love my job. But, it is very draining i guess its my field since I work with end stage patients. The job market is good for RN's with experience since it cost the hospital money to orient a new grad nurse. But if you get into school and get your degree by the time your done, hopefully the job market will be better.

Market is better for nurses than it is for teachers.

The teaching world is very difficult right now. Im teaching in a private school and my FH is still looking for a job in education.....The market should open up in a few years according to people. It also depends what you want to go for. The high school grades I think are in more demand and if you specialize, you might be better off. Also, special ed is becoming a popular route. HTH
