NWR -- Praxis in Speech Pathology

Has anyone taken the praxis in speech-language pathology?

Have any tips?
Study books to get?
General advice?

Thanks!

I've taken the Praxis in Music Content Knowledge....which of course doesn't help you. But ETS has a study guide for just about every test I think. Go to their website (ets.org) and search for the actual book, they usually run about $40. The music one helped me alot!! The little samples on their website aren't enough....so definitely go with their big study guides you can purchase.

Good luck!!!

i have! it was almost 3 years ago, so i'm trying to remember any tips.... it really wasn't TOO bad.... there was a book i bought that had sample questions and a sample test to take to get yourself ready.... i think i got it frm amazon.com... heres the link to it
http://www.amazon.com/Speech-Language-Pathology-Study-Praxis-Guides/dp/088685234X/sr=1-1/qid=1160434270/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-2253547-8608003?ie=UTF8&s=books

( i just went to amazon did ' books' and search for ' speech language pathology praxis)

as i said, it wasn't soo bad... most of my class passed it on the first try... GOOD LUCK!!!!
(by the way, its a great field! where are you planning to work?)

I'm not sure where I'd like to work! Right now I'm in Bayside at the Shield Institute working with adults with MR... and this past summer i was at P721Q (QOTC) working with children 14-21 with MR as well. I'm really interested in augmentative communication -- but I have ZERO experience with EI which is something I'd like to learn more about too! I loved working with the 14-21 with MR population as well!

Where are you working??

Hey all

if youre in grad school, and have already taken your comps, i suggest just studying your comps notes over again

my comps and praxis were within a few weeks of each other- comps were first. by then, i was so sick of studying that i didnt look at anything for the praxis- and neither did any of my friends from my graduating class- haha... we couldnt be bothered after the stupid comps...

any more questions, send me FM

good luck!

PS- the praxis isnt something you need to take before you get into grad school...

you can take it whenever you want, but you might as well sign up to take it around the same time as the comps-2 birds, 1 stone... they test the same thing, only the praxis is multiple choice (right?... )

Hi,

To answer both posts....

I'm already in grad school -- I'm finishing in May. To get into grad school you only need to take the GRE, which isn't bad at all!

My school actually doesn't have comps! So I'll just be studying for the praxis!
