So, I was at work tonight...i waitress part time...and a shift manager asked me why me & another girl who used to work there were trying to file for unemployment..
i was like, what the heII are you taking about??
she proceeded to tell me that yesterday, she got a phone call and work from the unemployment office asking about me & another girl...
the other girl walked out of work on her shift...she is a very good friend of mine...lives in the same apartment building as me..and we talk/see each other EVERYYY DAYY....well, SUPPOSEDLY she is trying to collect unemployment...
also, they called about me...asking how many hours a week I work because i am SUPPOSEDLY trying to collect partial unemployment because i dont get enough hours..
this is weird for many reasons... 1. the call was made in the same day at the same time--they asked about both of us in the same phone call. 2. we are very good friends. 3. someone has to have our social security numbers. 4. They knew about my friend walking out on her shift, and the knew approx. how many hours a week i work.
w t f am i supposed to do now??
neither one of us even THOUGHT about filing for unemployment...

i agree, first call the u/e office.....then have a talk with your manager, you don't want to endanger losing your job for fraud for something....then i would have a serious talk with your friend to find out whats going on....sounds really weird.

definitely! also put a credit monitor in place, order a copy of your credit history, just to double check that nothing looks fishy
i have a credit monitor and everytime i apply for a credit card or need to get my credit checked for somwthing they notify you
hope everything gets straightened out

Re: NWR: problem at work
I would be very concerned! If someone is god forbid using your social security number to get unemployment, I'd worry about what else they are using it for. I agree with Joanna, try to see if your SSN was used for anything else recently and check with the unemployment office to let them know it wasn't you filing this claim to see if they can track it back.

let ur shift manager know that you never tryed to file she should have a direct number to call also i would pull up ur credit report and check it, someone at ur job said somthing to know ur friend walked off i would also founf out who has access to ur records
