ok so I have my permit and just recently completed my 5 hr course, some people r telling me that with those 2 things I am allowed to drive to and from work ...ALONE. however, nobody seems to know more about this so called rule and they seem very unsure. Does anybody on here know about this?
ETA: I'm 24, to be 25 in December if that makes any difference

Yes, with both of those things you can drive by yourself to work or school.

I always thought you had to drive with someone over 21 ... however since your over 21, I have noo idea how this works, wish I could help, but maybe try calling the DMV and asking them on monday?

When I had my permit there wasnt any restrictions (as long as I was going either to school or work) but that was over 5 years ago so I dont know if things have changed since then.
Try googling NY laws for permit drivers or something like that and see what pops up.

with your permit and 5 hour course you can only drive with a licensed driver over the age of 21.
Did you take the road test....cause then you would be able to drive by yourself

I remember driving to school and my job by myself when I was 17 though. I dont know....

ok so i found this http://www.nysdmv.com/broch/c41.htmat first it says
'No matter what age you are, if you hold a learner permit, you may not drive:
Unless accompanied by a supervising driver at least age 21 who has a license valid for operating the vehicle you are driving. For example, only a person with a motorcycle license may supervise a motorcycle learner. '
but then it has all these restrictions and allowances and talks about the LI county laws about driving to and from work...but only with a JUNIOR licence... so I guess once ur an adult there are no exceptions??
I personally don't care if I have to wait til my road test coz thats what i was expectong but then people started telling me that i could drive to and from work but I don't want to try it and like...be banned from driving for yrs and yrs.
