NWR: ran today, now shoulders sore?!

Since I had the flu from hell, I had to take a month off from running. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't that awesome of a runner to begin with, but it was a bummer to lose 4 weeks of training. (I want to the Long Island half marathon in May, and I'm a looooong ways away).

Anyway, I finally hopped on the treadmill today at the gym at work. Seeing as I haven't ran in a long time, I only ran for 20 mins and even took a 2 minute walk break. (Pathetic, I know, but I'm working on it)

Now, I have really bad stiffness and pain in my shoulders and upper back right between my shoulder blades and a little on my neck, too. What am I doing wrong? Is my upper body too tense when I run? I used to get a little soreness, but nothing like this -- and I was doing a lot more than 20 minutes. I feel absolutely nothing in my legs or abs, so I know I didn't push that hard. My form is usually pretty good. Maybe it's just a matter of not having run for a while, but I'd think I'd feel that in my legs... and legs feel totally fine.

I can't wait to get FH to rub my shoulders for me when I get home. It's that annoying tight muscle pain where you just want a really deep tissue massage to work out the knots.

I took 2 tylenol and am just trying to get through the rest of the work day.

OUCH!

Guess THIS is why I shouldn't take so long off!!

Are you on an incline? That could do something?? Some people run with improper to get thru their workouts, I do the same thing ergonomics play a big role in working out, you may have running with you arms along side, ya know what I mean??Using muscles that were not streached properly??? Or maybe your just a little sick still, you will be fine by friday, take it easy.
