ok as many of you ladies know, FH & I have been having a HORRIBLE time with our land lord (for those of you that haven't heard me b*tch about it before - long story short, we had ants, a toilet that didn't work properly for 2.5 months, weren't allowed to park in front of the house we paid to live in, we lived in what equated to a junk yard, AND when we told them we were moving, our cable in our living room mysteriously stopped working even though we had never had problems before). So about a month and a half ago, her son HIT my car with his boat trailer. He admitted it a couple days later and told me to get an estimate. My father took my car (since I work Monday-Friday) and got two estimates, one for $380 the other was $400. I gave her son a copy of the $380 estimate, trying to be nice. We moved yesterday, and are STILL waiting on the money for my car. He was supposed to give it to us Friday, then Sunday, but he LEFT and didn't come back before we moved. His mother got in touch with us today and told us to pick up the money. We were like okay that's fine, we'll get cash and get to pick up stuff for the apartment. We get there and she tries to give us a CHECK made out to the BODY SHOP. UHM NO! First of all, it wasn't even a check from her or her son *WHO HIT MY CAR* it was from his girlfriend... uhm, ***? I told her absolutely not, that's not acceptable, no place is going to take a random check. I do not need them calling cops on me thinking I stole this chick's check book! So she told us she didn't know what we wanted her to do. I told her I want cash or a check made out to cash or me. The gf wasn't home at the time so she couldn't get another check, so she supposedly will get in touch with FH tomorrow. I'm sorry, am I wrong in this? Oh, and the kicker is when we get there, the son turns to her and says 'you deal with this', uhm, excuse me? didn't YOU hit my car? Not your mother. UGH I'm so annoyed and over unpacking!

I threatened to take his insurance info if I don't get the money tomorrow, and have no issue calling the cops. Honestly, we were talking to the neighbors yesterday and they were going to call the cops on them after we moved out due to the cr*p they've been doing - but they didn't want to call while we were still living there.

Oh my... some people are crazy. I hate when people try to walk away from their issues and pawn it off and their mom or girlfriend. Ugh! lame.... and who writes out a check to 'body shop' LOL!!

FH heard from her this morning and she said she called the body shop and they would take her check... uhm NO! WHAT?! FH told her fine, we'll see you in court then. She changed her tune and will be giving us a check made out to me tonight (I HOPE!)

if you do not have the check made out to you or your FH when you go pick it up tonight, DO NOT LEAVE! call the cops and make a report becauze it looks like you will end up in small claims court and a report will be a good piece of evidence in your favor!!! p.s. take a picture of the check she hands you tonight IF it is not in your name or even if your name is so much as misspelled by one letter.

So FH met with our former landlord tonight and got me the check. She explained to him that it was because her son refused to give us the money - keep in mind HE HIT MY CAR WITH HIS BOAT TRAILER! So she and his gf took it in to their own hands to give us the money. She hoped there was no hard feelings and even asked FH to send her a pic of us after we get married. I feel badly, but her son completely put a bad taste in my mouth. I always liked her, but she needs to stop spoon feeding her approximately 28 year old!
