fh and i are planning on starting to look for a house when we get back to ny in may. do you girls have any recommendations for realtors or realty companies in the area? we preferably want suffolk and will be staying with my parents in bay shore if that makes any difference at all (we don't want to travel too too far to meet anyone, but i figured we'd be meeting them at houses anyways, so...). we're also really clueless on this whole thing so any other info would be great. =0)

Re: nwr: realtor?
FH and i worked with like 5 different realtors but what ended up happening is that we went to a couple open houses and found the house of our dreams. We then worked with the realtor who was selling that house.
I would definitely go to open houses first, see what you like. Some realtors showed us the worst houses because they were hard to sell. It's a bit of a pain. But if you do decide to work with someone don't sign that paper that says you will ONLY work with THEM and nobody else. Then you will be stuck with that person.
I hope that helps if you have any more question feel free to FM me

Re: nwr: realtor?
I highly recommend Tammy Gorman with Prudential. She is hard-working and honest! She'd be a pleasure to deal with. She works all over Nassau, Suffolk, and parts of Queens, but her offices are located in Suffolk.
I know her personally and cannot say enough good things about her.
I will FM you her information.
ETA - In Nassau, I also recommend Malverne Realty, which is owned / run by very dear friends of my parents. They do business all over Long Island and Queens, I'm sure, but their offices are in Malverne in Nassau County.

I def recommend Angela Charrone with Prudential Douglas Elliman. She works in their Babylon branch and was wonderful to work with from Day 1 all the way through closing. She answered every single one of our million questions and made the whole process pretty easy and stress free.

I recommend Eileen Fucello from Remax. I think she is at the Babylon branch or West Babylon. She will tell you the hidden truth about any house. She is easy to work with and made my house shopping experience 'wonderful' !
