NWR: Received OOT Baby Shower Invite for second baby
Ok either I'm losing it or my cousin is .........BUT....... me and a whole bunch of family members received baby shower invites for a cousin of mine who lives in FLORIDA. This is her second baby with a second father and the invite says she is hosting it for herself. Does anyone but me find this odd

That is odd....unless for some reason she lost all the stuff from the first baby to her ex or something else special like that......if anything, it should be small and local and thrown by someone else (example: we threw my boss a work shower for her 2nd baby, through her protests, b/c it was a boy and the first was a girl and EVERYONE wanted to buy her presents)

I would have expected his family to throw her one. Knowing her as well as I do, and the situations she has been in through the years (never good) she's probably in a tough spot. No one has spoken to her or seen her in years and then we all get this invite. She registered at Wal-Mart, Target, and Babies R US. I think I am going to get her a Babies R US gift card. At least that way I know she has to get something for the baby.

I think it depends.....i always think its nice to have a little 'sprinkle' after the first baby.......also depends on how much time is inbetewwen the kids ( if its 3 years or more id hope to have a shower so i can update my stuff :) also if the second baby is a different sex then the first i think a second baby shower is ok cause you dont have anything for that baby.........

yeah, it's odd.. but then again lots of people are starting to feel that the 2nd or 3rd babies should get new stuff too. Just send her a gift or gift card.

very odd..especially the throwing it for herself part.
My mom didnt even want one when my brother was born, but my sis and i were 15 and 18 so she obviously didnt have ANYTHING for him so we threw her one.

First off that is really odd. Second I would get her the BRU gift card since you're right- she'd have to spend it on the baby.

IMHO I think it's really greedy of her to do something like that. It would be much more appropriate if someone else threw it for her. My friend had 2 boys then was pregnant with a girl and her friends threw her a small shower. It was really nice, but not a huge shower and she had NO clue about it.

I think it's odd mainly b/c you said you and your family haven't really spoken to her or seen her in years! Now suddenly you're invited to a shower? I think I would feel a little insulted by that.
We threw a 2nd baby shower for my FSIL but it was b/c her 2nd child came 6 years after her 1st. And it was a different sex.
