NWR: Recommend a Digital Camera Please

Hello Ladies,

The digital camera I currently have is a Sony Cybershot and it is a few yrs old but still works well. My biggest gripe with the camera is that when I try to zoom in on my Ering to take a pic of it, it comes out blurry!! I don't know if I have to adjust the settings, or if it is the camera and the zoom just stinks for smaller objects like that.

Which digital camera do you have and do you notice the same thing when trying to take a pic of your Ering?

Thanks!

yeah I can't get any good close-ups of my e-ring either but I would recommend any canon digital camera. they are awesome!!

Taking pictures of e rings is very difficult with any camera. Your best bet would be to hold your hand up and in front of a dark background. I really don't think it is the camera. Also try to see if you have the stabilization setting, not sure if that Sony model had it back then, but that usually helps with taking still shots without a tripod.

If you are seriously in the market for a camera, there are so many good ones out there right now, you just need to know what options you want.

FM me if you want any other info, I work for a camera company.

Use the macro setting, it looks like a flower.

Do you have Digital Macro option on your camera?
That is what you would use to take a picture of your e-ring close up

I have a Canon Powershot and I love it

So I tried the macro setting and it got a little better, but the pics are not as close as pictures I have seen that other LIW brides have posted.

What now?

There could be numerous reasons for this. Don't buy a new camera just yet!

1. Not enough light. Does your flash automatically go on in low-light situations? Try putting your ering next to the window on a sunny day.

2. Camera shake. Set the camera down on something to take the picture. Low light causes the camera to keep the shutter open longer and any little minute movement will cause blurriness.

3. Your lens. Put the ring back in the box and step back from it at least 2-3 feet. Then zoom in with the lens. Different lenses have different capabilities. You may just be too close to the ring to get a good shot.

4. If you do have a macro setting, use it. The flower isn't necessarily for macro shots. Your manual should give you a description of what the flower does for you. It could also be for higher saturation and brightness to bring out colors.

5. If you want to take a picture of it on your finger, have someone else take it. There should be some kind of beep or light on the viewfinder that tells you when it's in focus. If it doesn't come on, step back from the ring until you can focus.

Hope this helps. If you still want to replace your camera for any reason, I just bought the Canon Powershot A540 for my nephew from B&H photo. Got a pretty good deal.
