NWR - recommend a vet

My sisters cat, is really not herself, we too her to vet and they think she might have lung cancer.

We are looking for a Pulmonary Vet Specialist, anyone know of one? I always would think this kind of stuff for pets is ridiculous, but its affecting my sister so much I'm really worried about them both.

Here is baby:

TIA

She's BEAUTIFUL!

Try LIVS They have a full staff of specialists and while I see no mention of Pulmonary medicine on their website, it can't hurt to call them. They're right on the expressway service road, east bound.

What a beautiful cat!!!!!!!!!!
When my FH's cat Pesty had thyroid cancer he took Pesty there and they were wonderful. Pesty had surgery to remove the cancer and is now healthy for almost 2 years since (no chemo). Definitely check them out!!!
Good luck!!!

Re: NWR - recommend a vet

that is heart breaking

when my dog was diagnosed with cancer... every animal hospital I called recommended the veterinary medical center of long island. Here is the link: http://www.vmcli.com/ . they are in west islip. They deal with all different types of cancer. My dog has been cancer free for over a year. I hope your sisters cat is ok!

ETA: I think Dr. Hillock is the one that deals with lungs. HTH!

Re: NWR - recommend a vet

Just a few questions and some hopefully helpful info-

Was the sweet cat diagnosed with primary lung cancer or metastic cancer ( spread of another cancer to the lungs- many cancers will met to the lungs). In cats lymphoma does this alot.

Primary lung cancer (usually a solitary nodule) is less common. Sometimes treated with surgurical removal and submit for biospy.

As far as referral to a specialists- the regular vet usually refers to a specialist they like- for lung cancer likely a oncologist (but usually as in peopel you need a diagnosis- what type of cancer- before an oncologist will discuss possible treatment. Futher diagnostics for lung issues can involve a ultrasound of the chest to aspirate (place a needle in the mass), or a CT.

Specilaists that can investigate will be likely an internal medicine specialist or a cardiologist (often they do pulmonary disease as well). LIVS is good. There are also a few more specialty hospitals- where are you located? Your vet will have the best idea for referall.

Pls FM with questions if you want!
