So we received our rent renewal and they want to increase our rent $100 a month! For us, who are struggling as it is, with no pay raises, we cant afford this! Has anyone ever negotiated with their management company? I really dont want to move but we cant afford to stay!!!

Re: NWR: Rent negotiation
Sorry.. have no advice for you considering my landlords are my parents..
Maybe you could try asking your neighbors?

Is it a complex? Did they say why they were raising the rent?

Re: NWR: Rent negotiation
I would bring it up; worst case they say the $100 stays. Try to speak to someone in person bc it is harder to say no to someone's face.

Re: NWR: Rent negotiation
definitely bring it up and explain your situation, if you are good tenants they might want to negotiate not to lose you.

Re: NWR: Rent negotiation
I think you have all rights to demand why they want an increase. Do they deserve it? Have they done repairs to the building, improvements or added additional services?
If not, it's the same place and others aren't receiving the same treatment. I would make sure to highlight this.

Re: NWR: Rent negotiation
ITA! U have the right to question the reason behind why ur rent has gone up and bring up the fact that other tenants havent had any increase or less of one than u have... sorry u have to go thru this but good luck!
