NWR: restaurant on Austin St (forest hills)
I should have written VENT In the subject line because that is what this is...
Over the weekend a friend and i went to austin street for dinner. We ended up at an italian restaurant right near the corner of austin & continental (will try to find the name of the place). Anyway, we sat down and ordered an appetizer and 2 meals. The app. came out (fried calamari). we ate 3 or 4 pieces (which was delicious) and my friend noticed a hair! So we quietly called the waiter over and showed him so he took her plate to the back (with the one piece of calamari and the hair - which was short and clearly not either of ours). The waiter comes back a moment later with the manager (or matire'd no idea who he was) and they proceed to tell us they looked in her plate and do not see a hair! They went to the back and brought back the plate and asked my friend to show it to them...SO SHE DID! It was there, and so he said ok we will take it away and so they cleared the appetizer and brought us fresh plates.
I swear we wanted to walk out of there and not continue our meal. but we ended up staying and finishing our dinners. and at the end they came over with the bill and said they took the calamari off the check (but with a tone in his voice as if he did us a favor by not charging us for food we didnt eat!)
yes i understand no restaurant wants hair in their food but to question us and bring back the plate for us to show you (when my friend already showed the waiter as he took the plate away the first time) is absurd! poor poor poor customer service.
