FH proposed to me at the River Cafe. It's just under the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn. It's beautiful! The restaurant is actually an old barge or boat and it has a beautiful view of the city and outside of the restaurant is a beauitful garden (which was where FH proposed). The food is delicious!

Actually, of course I am biased, but FH and I went to The Inn at New Hyde Park's restaurant for dinner on our -1 year anniversary a few weeks ago and it was VERY romantic! The food is great too. So was the service.

Another vote for the Melting Pot. FH and I went there for our Valentine's Day dinner (a week later) and it was VERY romantic. We were also the only people in the restaurant! It was a Tuesday night at like 10pm.
Also for my 21st bday, FH took me to the restaurant in the Garden City Hotel. That was very romantic too.

Re: NWR-Restaurant Suggestions
if you like the fondue idea, i actually think simply fondue (there is one in great neck) is more romantic...lights are more dimmed and their salads are totally delish!! (strawberry and spinach salad, mmm)
in the city, i would check out scarlatto. food is SOOOO YUMMMY, servers never rush you out, and its a really cute place (i think they have pics on their website)
