NWR: restaurants in midtown

Hi gals!
I am having lunch next Tues w/ a potential employer. We are going to meet in the city.
What are some classy, good and not too expensive places near penn station that we could meet for lunch?

TIA

My favorite place is the Molly Wee Pub on the corner of 30th and 8th Avenue. LOVE IT... granted, family friends own it, but the food is GREAT and the price is reasonable for Manhattan. You can get pub grub, salads, burgers, and basic entrees like chicken and steak.... it is also a bar, but I would imagine during the lunch hour it will be quiet and intimante.

Because there's not a lot around there, would you consider walking 10 minutes to 5th or Madison? There's Dano on 5th and 28th and Scopa on Madison and 28th. I've had cheap business lunches at both but Scopa is classier. There are more upscale places on Madison, and Park Avenue South is right there too.

Not classy, but really really good is Virgils, or Carmines. Both are really yummy!

Yeah, the area around Penn for restaurants = slim pickings!! I would head down to Chelsea or perhaps over by the Rockefeller Center area (Morrell Wine bar & cafe maybe) and there are lots of great restaurants in the flatiron area. Check out citysearch.com. You can search by neighborhood/price/etc. I'm on that site all the time!!

Becco - I think it's on 46th between 8th and 9th. Not totally close to Penn but it's really good.

Tupelo Grill. Perfect for a work lunch and across the street from Penn. Good luck!
