NWR: Salary Negotiations

I have my 'review' coming up in May...My boss already told me that I will be getting a raise, but I want to maximize the amount...any tips?

If you look on Monster.com or careerbuilder.com, they list tips on how to negotiate. That may help. One of the biggest things is to list all the things that you have brought to the business above and beyond what the expectation is.

Thanks for the tips! I haven't done this before and am a little nervous!

Don't be nervous! That's the most important thing. They'll see right through it. Be confident and proud of your abilities and they're more likely to be convinced. Good luck

Easier said than done though...that is why I really want to go in there prepared!

Oh, I know it, trust me. I've never had a review, but any time on a job interview when I've had to state my 'good qualities' or 'why I should be hired', I always have a little difficulty. It's so weird and hard to sell yourself! As long as you're prepared that's the most important thing. Consider questions you may be asked. That will help. One of the obvious ones being 'Why do you deserve a raise?' or 'Why are you an asset for this company?'

I have been doing searches online to find out what I should be paid, so that is somewhat helpful....I just feel like I have no idea what to expect...which is what scares me!
