FH told me the other day that his neighborhood all got a notice and then last night had a meeting at the Manorville Fire Dept about an ExCon that just moved right by his house.........like literally down the block, i drive by the house everytime i go to FHs
he is an Ex Con because he is on parole for ATTEMPTED MURDER AND RAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in 1996 he broke into a manorville home through the basement and cut a lady's throat and raped her in front of her children.............
my moms FLIPPING out and does not even want me staying there anymore!
But FH just had a whole new alarm system put in where every single window n door in the house will sound if its opened, etc....makes me feel a lil better but STILL SCARY!!!

I would feel the same way and my parents would also probably ban me from going there....LOL
I would suggest not going there unless FH is there and not staying there alone at all???
Be careful and make sure that alarm is on 24/7!!!!!!!!!!

he'd be there all night with me, and then leave for work in the AM, but then id be there by myself in the morning........

Yikes. That is scary, but I guarantee there's more living close by that none of us know about. My advice: adopt a big, scary looking dog and invest in a can of pepper spray.

whenever i go to carls 99.9% of the time i sleep there....so i would never have to be out around there at night....
but we do like to go for night walks through his development (the guy lives on the road just outside of the development) so i dunno if we're gona be doing that anymore......
i wont be walking by myself now like i always used to!!!!!!!!!!!

i am sure that any one of us could have an ex con living within that distance or riding on a subway car with us.
just don't put yourself into any uncomfortable situations. maybe take a self defense class if it will put your mind at ease.

he was sentenced to 17 years in 1996, got out after 10 years due to 'good behavior'...ironic right??
he is still on parole

ya well im a Black Belt in martial arts.....
you'd think that would put my moms mind at ease a BIT...
i guess since i haven't trained in a couple years and the fact that hes like 6'somethin 220 pounds and crazy would make it a lil more difficult
but like im very knowledgable about defending myself already.....

wow that is scary.....you can go online and find out if any sex offenders live in your neighborhood, its a good thing to do with every1 looking to buy a home or rent an apartment.

That's very scary, but I bet most everyone on this site has an ex-con living close to them.
(This is probably also my cynical view of things speaking, having grown up in the city and having a dad who's a retired NYPD detective.)
I'd recommend taking a self-defense course...hell, I think every woman should take one, and have them properly teach you how to use the Mace.
