NWR - School Interviews

So I have an upcoming interview for a public school social work position. For those of you who have experienced a public school interview (either teaching or other position), would you have any info for me on what to expect? It is such a great opportunity and I want to be prepared. I have heard that usually there are call backs if they like you and also interviews with a board of people. Any help would be appreciated !

TIA !!! Wish me luck !

I have heard about their being a board of people that interview, which def scares me. I'm better one-on-one. I actually have an interview tomorrow for a school psych internship, but I think its more of a 'i wanna meet you before sept starts' kinda thing so I'm not toooo worried!

Just be prepared... know what the school is all about, who the big shots are, etc Get a list of FAQ's during an interview so you are prepared for whatever they dish out! Also, bring a portfolio of work you've done (not sure if they need/will ask for it, but I'm sure it looks a bit more professional if you do)

Wishin you lots of luck I will be in your position next summer

Ive been on alot of interviews lately They have ranged from 2-10 people. The ones with more people are def. alot more stressful! Just be prepared with information about the school and the position in which you are interviewing for. And def. have questions for them that you can ask at the end of the interview.

I usually make a little packet for each person in the interview and include my resume, certification, letters of recomendation, and sample lesson plans

HTH...and Good luck!!

Re: NWR - School Interviews

Hi!

Right now I am in my second year of teaching in a public school. At my interview for this job ( i got lucky and it was my first one!) there was a panel of interviewers. The teacher who I was going to replace, my principal, the PTA president, The Director of my dept and a teacher in my department were all there. They each asked one question and that was it.

My biggest piece of advice is to memorize the answer to, 'So tell me a little bit about yourself.' They ALWAYS ask it and it is so easy to sound like a babbling idiot if you dont expect it!

Also, don't be afraid to sell yourself. Yo uare there to convince them why you are super and everyone else is not!

As far as what to bring, I brought a couple of extra resumes. (make sure it is short and to the point! no more than a page!) I also made sure I had questions to ask them. I did my research about the school and then came with a coupe of questions for them. Though they are interviewing you, you are interviewing them too. You want to make sure it is a place that you can see yourself going everyday!!

Good luck and let me know how it goes!
