NWR Shooting at Virginia Tech.

Original post by Marly

I just heard that there was a shooting there and so far 20 students are confirmed dead and 28 injured, among the dead is the shooter.

I just don't understand what this world is coming too...

The news said that someone walked into one of the classrooms and opened fire...

I pray for all of the victims amd their families!!!!

I was just reading this on CNN too!! So I said something to my co-workers about the article, and one of them her nephew goes to Virginia Tech!! She's calling her family now. This is so horrible!! 20 innocent lives were taken!!

OMG!! I was just talking to my co-worker, she heard from her sister in law, her nephew is ok, but his roommate is unaccounted for.....they are hoping he's in 'lockdown' or something....he's an engineering student and the hall where the shooting took place was engineering! I'm praying for his family!!!!

I am watching Fox news now and it makes me sick. What would make someone do something like this.

This is so sickening... words can't even describe how horrible this massacre is. I'm just so saddened about this. My stomach turns each time I hear about it.

It's 32 killed at this point.

It's so scary how our country is changing. I heard an expert on CNN say that school shootings such as this have only occured in our country.

To any of you Virginia Tech alums or if you have family there, we're praying for you.

I don't think our Country is to blame. I also don't think our Country is 'changing' considering something very similar to this happened back in August of 1966 in Texas.

It's just a horrific tragedy but I can't really see placing blame or looking for reasons besides the killer him/herself who did this.

In other Countries you have people blowing themselves up on suicide missions everyday-- all things are relative and tragedies can occur anywhere.

I'm just trying to keep my eye on the ball here and focus on the victims and their families... It's so tragic and senseless and makes you realize how many sick and violent people there are all over the world.

What a tragic, terrifying and sad event. To take the lives of those innocent people, just breaks my heart.

I think our country and society is definitly to blame it's just way too easy to throw all of the blame on the killer.

We are constantly being conditioned and brain washed by media, movies, and news, with gruesome acts of violence, that they become so common and almost normalized in the minds of some individuals, like murderers and serial killers. Murderers kill mainly because they feel a sense of power and dominance over others when they do it, this idealogy comes from what the media portrays to us as claiming your 'masculinity' and 'power'. One step to prevent things like this, or reduce these sort of viscious acts, is by creating stricter laws and policies on what we can show in movies and music videos and what we define as 'male dominance' and masculinity in our society. Thats the LEAST we can do as a country for ourselves.

Re: NWR Shooting at Virginia Tech.

My daughter attend Florida A&M University.
Her first year there there was a bomb in one of the classroom set by a vendor. (that's another story, no one was hurt) When I heard about it, I almost lost my mind until I was able to hear her voice, I was ready to take the first plane leaving NY to bring her home.
I know what those parents are feeling. I felt the same way until I knew my daughter was fine.
You sent your child to school to get a better education, and so fool takes that away from them.

God Bless the families of those wonderful kids that lost their lives today.

And God bless the FOOL that took his own life after doing this.

Re: NWR Shooting at Virginia Tech.

Tech is about 20 minutes away from where I grew up, and where my parents and sister still live. One of my closest friends works there, and my sister has a lot of friends who go there. My mom's office is right across the street from the campus. Luckily everyone we know there is okay. My mom's office was on lockdown all day, and so was my friend's. This is so terrible. I've been watching the news all night and seeing this campus in such chaos breaks my heart.

You never think something like this will happen, much less that it would happen in a sleepy little town like Blacksburg. My heart goes out to the victims' families.

my fiance called me and told me to call my MOH since she works on campus and her husband goes to school there. I flipped out...but luckily they are both okay. He didn't have classes today and they had an early meeting in the morning so she wasn't even at work yet.
This is considered the worst campus shooting in U.S history.

Happy that they're OK
