I am neither, but FH and I and FIL's are in the process of buying a short sale...and let me tell you...it's the exact opposite of SHORT!!! We put our bid in at the end of April and they just told us last week that the offer was accepted!! Urghhhhh

It's been such a pain in the rear!! Our other house sold before the new house was ready so we had to move into FIL's basement...we didnt' think it would be that long...but hopefully it's all coming to an end!! good Luck!!

I agree!! I originally thought that 'short sale' meant that it would be quick, but I was informed that it means that the people selling are selling it for less than what they owe...I guess they'd rather take a few thousand dollars loss than have to hold on to it and lose even more...

Re: NWR: SHORT SALE

we were waiting for the bank to approve an offer we made on a house back in June.....this past Monday our offer contract expired and we declined re-signing.....we found another short sale and we might make an offer on this other house......it takes a long time....we waited 3 months and didn't hear anything - we didn't mind the waiting part, once a week we would get an update and we were getting close to getting an answer but it just so happens that we found something better while we were waiting so that is why we decided not to re-sign and give the bank more time....we might make an offer on the second house but the bank already has approved an amount (so we have to offer that amount or else it wont be accepted) so chances are there wont be so much waiting - problem is we dont want to close until after our wedding.....so not sure what we are going to do yet....

4 offers have been accepted in the past 9 months but all have fallen through in the end. the house needs a lot of tlc. the people basically neglected the inside and worked on the outside, so i think that when the mortgage company sends their appraiser to the house, they must see something sketchy. fh and i love/want to put an offer, but we feel that we dont know enough.

the bank that owns the house expired the contract - we re-signed two or three times to give the bank an extension.....this is in florida though
