Do you need to have some type of service to use the radio? I want to get it for FH for christmas and they have a special where the radio comes with a boombox you can attach it to. He said he wanted a radio for his office so I thought this would be perfect but can he just take in the sirius radio and use it in his office with the boombox?

as long as youre paying for the subscription and you activate the radio

Re: NWR: sirius radio
i think its about $140 a year for the service only. Trust me that is all i hear about. My FH wants one soo bad, but he is very anal about the paricular model he wants. he has done sooo much research & still can't decide !

thanks, I didn't know why I thought it was something like having bluetooth and needing something like a wireless router in order for it to work

Well I'm looking at the sportster 4 and if you order it before midnight you get the actual radio, a car docking something or other, a boombox to play it on and a year of service for like $169, after a $30 rebate

Re: NWR: sirius radio
Sirius always runs good deals like that.
Once you activate the service the radio for the car can be plugged into the boom box device and it will work.
I got sirius because my brother went to cancel an account that he had linked to his for my grandfather and they sent him all this free equipment and some free months to keep the account -- they just need to hook it up in my car now.

Re: NWR: sirius radio
I'm not sure actually. My FH just got me the car stereo. The thing is, if it's for work and if he works with a computer, he can just log on and listen to it at work. That's what I do.
It's nice of you to pay for the yearly subscription. Be sure to check out the rebate. After I tossed out the box and everything, I'm on their site and saw that like no matter when you buy it, you always seem to get like $50+ back! Please, hold onto your box and all the paper work. No lie - the rebates on the actual radio are INSANE! Unless they've changed this.
PS FH didn't pay for my subscription and that $160 or whatever it was was painful for me. Wah wah.
I also can't wait until the lease is up on my car because I don't want to hard wire it in so this means, every time someone drives by me, I'm stuck listening to whatever they are listening to. It's so annoying! I want to get a car that already has it built in!

Re: NWR: sirius radio
I got it for my FH a few years ago for Christmas and he LOVES it. At the time I got him a 2 year membership for like $300. We're up for renewal now and they have a lifetime subscription for about $500. I know, it's a lot to shell out all at once but then u never have to pay for it again.
