Happy 2010!!! So now to actually live up to the typical new year's resolution with mine being staying in shape, has anyone tried out this sneaker? Is it a gimmick?
Just curious how this show is designed to tone your butt and legs. I thought a walk is still a walk but I guess it's cushioning that's not found in other sneakers.
Feedback and opinions welcome!!! Thanks ladies.

The idea behind shoes like this is to throw you off balance by simulating a balance ball in order to make you work harder to stabilize yourself and hopefully activate more muscles, particularly your core to do this. At least this is my understanding of it, someone may correct me.
I have no experience with shoes like this but I did read about them. I wouldn't expect miracles though.

I didn't like the way the sketchers sneakers looked...to me they look like orthepedic shoes so I went with the reebok ones and I love them...I def. feel them working...check them out!

i fu want to tone up those areas save yourself the money and the embarassment of wearing such an ugly sneaker and do squats in the privact of your own home. more effective and its free.

The shape-ups are definitely ugly but I just wear them to work where I really don't care and they don't looks as bad with scrubs as they would with regular clothes... They are not some miracle sneaker but they definitely improve your posture and make you engage your abs I've also noticed my calves and butt are being worked more when I walk in them. The shape-up are no way a replacement for the gym, but a nice little addition if you are on your feet/walking a lot. They also come with instructions and a dvd of some excerises you can do to increase the toning.

Ok, maybe someday I'll try them but for now I'll continue to do my cardio and toning work outs. DH says it's just another 'money-maker.' lol
