NWR: Sleeping issue

NWR: Sleeping issue

Hi everyone!

For the past year FH and I have been having a huge issue with sleep. We have been together for a little over 8 years. FH started snoring about a year ago and I am not able to adjust. He works nights and I work days so the only time we get to sleep together is during the weekend. I can't wait for the weekend to come because I miss him being in the bed and the intimacy (non sexual) that we get. Unfortunately, I can't sleep when he snores and when he realizes I am awake he either doesn't sleep or he sleeps on the couch. This makes me so sad. He went to a sleep doctor for testing and they can't figure out the issue. I have tried sleeping pills as well as going to sleep before him but nothing works.

Does anyone have any advice??

My fh used to work nights so I understand how difficult that adjustment is. Fh doesn't snore but my dad does and when he went to the doctor they sent him to a sleep center and they gave him a mask to wear at night. To me this is a better option than pills and it eliminated his snoring. The mask doesn't make much noise so I would imagine it wouldn't disrupt you.

I have this issue so bad! My FH had sleep apnea, the dr didn't suggest that? He had to go in for an overnight sleep study, found he had sleep apnea and then gave him a machine to breath in at night and it cleared up. He also lost a LOT of weight which really helped a lot. I would try to go to sleep before him, but it was so bad that once I woke up I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. I know it's terrible, good luck. I have such bad insomnia and I think it's because of this. We are also together 8 years and it's only the last couple of years that this issue is resolved.

My FH snores too so I wear earplugs. At first I didn't like wearing them but now I can't sleep without them. I use the soft foam ones and they work really well. They don't totally block sound but they prevent me from waking up in the middle of night if FH starts to snore.

I sleep like a log, so I've never had a problem lol. But FH did when we first started staying together. (What? I snore! lol) He battled it by falling asleep watching tv or with earbuds in. And then eventually he didn't need it anymore. He says I still snore occasionally but I guess he is used to it. I think the more time you spend next to that person the more you get used to it. Since you only sleep next to each other on weekends, you probably haven't gotten that chance yet. I hope it works out for you guys!

I am the one who wakes to the drop of a pin while my FH is a VERY active sleeper. So it makes it hard some times to actually get any sleep. He also has a hard time getting up. The loudest alarm clocks don't wake him

Look into getting some melatonin for yourself. It's a natural sleep aid and it works like a charm. So does xanax but you need a prescription and it's not really for sleeping, more for anxiety. Also, your husband can ask the doctor about surgery that will stop his snoring. You'll both sleep better with that one.
