Re: NWR: slimmer thighs???
I always had a problem with my thighs. I still have to work on them but Pilates was a godsend. Check out Winsor Pilates (especially the lower body workout) or a class at the gym. My sister swears by the treadmill. She says that the trick is to put the incline on a REALLY high level, even if you go at a slower pace.

UGH - I hate exercising in the gym. For me I just watch my diet. My knees are bad so its tough with some exercise. I had a personal trainer who was VERY informative. What about getting one for a few sessions, then you can continue on your own :) Good Luck.

Re: NWR: slimmer thighs???
In addition to a healthy diet, I've been doing running and uphill walking... thighs have always been the problem... It seems to be working because the inches are definitely coming off. I run a couple of times a week and a couple of times a week I do high uphills. Walk between 3.0 adn 3.5 mph at like a 7.5 incline. It definitely works wonders. Even if you can't run (or don't like to), I think you'd get results that are just as good from just the uphill walking alone.
ETA: do a five minute warmup on flat ground before the hills though! and I usually do the hills for at least 35-45 minutes. You can start with less and work your way up.

For me, what I've seen actually work for the inner thighs (no clue for the outer- although you really feel them working after the elliptical machine) are those excercise balls? You put them between your knees and press in, hold it, then out and you do a bunch of sets but MAKE SURE TO STRETCH because its really easy to pull those muscles.

Squats and lunges, but w/o weights. Also, make sure you do a lot of stretching or pilaets...that will 'elongate' your legs and make 'em look slimmer.

OMG I think mine are genetically fat!! But...my trainer says that anything you pinch can be taken away by cardio-
also you might try a lower carb diet with HIGH protein and do more cardio- see if that works

ooooh really? did he really say that? GREAT NEWS! I thought mine were just genetically fat too! But the other day I did read that just because you've never lost the fat there before, doesn't mean you can't. If you are the type that gains weight the fatest in the hips/thighs/butt area, then that will be the LAST place you lose, according to this article. So I guess I've never really tried to lose all that extra fat down there because I assumed it was genetic... This time, I'm going to try... I'm hoping that eventually, it really does go away. I'd love to be in better shape at thirty than I was at 18...

Try swimming on a regular basis. It is excellect for the legs as well as the whole body. It is also very good for your arms.
